If you want a more refreshing appetizer to start the scrumptious meal, you can try the Caramelized Goat’s Cheese Salad. This tasty salad is served with a small ball of bruleed goat’s cheese next to a bed of arugola and a slice of caramelized pineapple. The Burrata at RAW Eatery and Wood Grill is also to die for. It’s served on top of a bed of diced tomatoes with dollups of avocado cream, the cheese is just like in Italy, with a soft, liquid center.

Additionally, if you ask the restaurant for their “cut of the day” steaks, they will never disappoint. The steaks are served with rock salt, charred garlic, crispy bits, and two sauces, serving about two to three people as a main dish. Along with this, one can order between two and three side dishes, depending on the size of steak. This includes a fresh tomato salad, with crisp cocktail tomatoes, roasted potato, dragon beans, roasted in the oven, and roasted cauliflower. All the steaks are cooked in the charcoal oven, giving them a nice and smoky flavor, while also being cooked a perfect medium rare. If you are craving a steak, this is the place to be!

Finally, the dessert menu has refreshing home-made sorbet and five dessert options that change according to season: a decadent chocolate dessert, highly elevated banana split, a yogurt and pineapple sorbet cup, and what may very well be the best lemon meringue tart in all of Shanghai. This hearty desert is made with lemon and calamansi, the lemon cream being nice and tart. On top is a silky, smooth layer of sweet meringue and thin shavings of calamansi, which add a nice touch to this delicate dessert.
Overall, RAW Eatery and Wood Grill is a heaven for all carnivores who are looking for great quality meat in Shanghai. While it is a bit pricey, the atmosphere is nice and relaxed, with waiters in comfortable attire. While they may not all speak English fluently, they are all extremely friendly, and try their absolute best to adhere to your every need.
